Forge Creek Road Closes for the Winter

Managers at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park have announced that the Forge Creek Road, which extends from the park’s Cable Mill Visitor Center to the Gregory Ridge Trailhead, has been closed until mid-March 2009. The closure will not affect the paved Cades Cove Loop Road used by most visitors but it will add about 2 miles to the 5.7-mile hike (one-way) to the scenic Gregory’s Bald.
